We are only subsidized for 23 beds out of the 39 available, applicants will go on a waiting list for a subsidized bed to open. Forms must be completed, we can only waitlist completed forms that have been received.

You only qualify for subsidy if your income is lower than R 2,699.00 (only Tehuis accommodation, the Flatlets are excluded).

You should also be aware that if a resident qualifies for a government subsidy, the shortfall remains payable by the family. The subsidy is determined by the grading the resident receives on their assessment certificate. If the person is graded A1 or A2, they qualify for a subsidy of R1,500.00 per month. If the person is graded A3, they qualify for a subsidy of R4,000.00 per month. An A1 resident is fully independent (1-bed: occupied), an A2 resident is semi-independent (2-beds: occupied), and an A3 resident is fully dependent on our care (20-beds: occupied). We allocate the resident’s SASSA income together with the subsidy towards accommodation, and the family is responsible for paying the outstanding balance.

Medical services involve 24 hour care of the individual with a Professional Nurse on duty and caregivers.

• Be mindful that we are not a hospital and that medical care is basic and limited.
• State Doctor visits the Home once a month, state ambulance is available and patients are taken to Caledon Hospital. There is also a Clinic in town.
• Private doctors make Home visits if necessary and make use of Private Ambulance Services (CMC) to Hermanus MediClinic / Vergelegen MediClinic in Somerset West.
• We have Stipp Pharmacy in town for prescriptions, etc.
• Residents’ Medication is issued by the Sister on duty.

Spiritual Care: A Prayer Meeting is offered once a week. On Sunday mornings there is a broadcast from the local N.G. Church or you can attend the service at the church.
